Hello MFC!
I've heard most of you get your anime figures from the awesome AmiAmi, however when I tried to make an order for something, AmiAmi said shipping costs will be billed to me at another time. Is there any good estimate for shipping costs for EMS and Air (with tracking?)
Thanks again MFC

shipping options/cost/policy is probably the worst thing about them.
-they only use certain boxes, which are thick and heavy, so expensive to ship. they are great for protecting your product, but often not necessary.
-they don't use "medium" sized boxes, so you may end up having to use EMS instead of cheaper SAL.
-they don't provide shipping cost until after you make your purchase, often leaving you at risk of unexpected high shipping cost (coupled with their no cancellation policy, you basically get screwed). yes, you can send them a message for an estimate, but it takes a day for them to read it, then another couple days to give you an estimate, at which point the item you want may be sold out (esp if it's a pre-owned). usually they just respond to me saying it's no longer available...so they essentially do not provide estimates.
-their combined shipping process could be more flexible, you have to go back and forth with them over a couple of days to break up a shipment, and they tell you to use the system to combine and figure out the various shipping options/costs, meanwhile you have no certainty as to if the combination will force EMS or not...all this coupled with their no cancellation policy and payment policy will screw you
here are their shipping rates...

but they don't tell you how much their heavy boxes weigh, so even if you knew the figure dimensions and weight, you cannot calculate it. of course they do not provide figure packaging dimensions and weight. trying to find this information (accurately) on the web elsewhere can be annoying and cumbersome, and sometimes impossible for older pre-owned items.
usually i just make education guesses based on the type of item i am getting based on the figure's scale and materials.
Amiami shipping can be expensive, though. They tend to use bigger boxes and stuff them with paper and it makes the package heavier by a considerable amount of money.
I ordered the 7th dragon Miku and her EMS shipping was around $44 while someone else who ordered from somewhere else had it by about $9 cheaper.
So I've seen on the site. The only reason why I considered AmiAmi was for a pre-owned Figma Chie at around $30, but the shipping makes her much more than just trying to hunt for her at a con or even here on MFC's sales page.

Give more detail about your order : Figures, goodies ext…
For a package up to 2kg :
- 2,080¥ for SAL (Non-registered, 2 weeks)
- 2,760¥ for Air-mail (8d, tracking inc.)
- 4,600¥ for EMS (2d, tracking inc.)
More info one www.post.japanp...
Also it's a common subject, please search next time.
Nevermind then, others were faster.
You can usually get the estimated weight for pre-order items on Playmoya; check the item page. Then check that against the EMS price chart www.post.japanp...
Or use nippon yasan. If you add an item to your cart, you can get rates for shipping there. Hope that helps :)
Thanks, the chart helps a lot! Boy international shipping can be pricey sometimes : 3
