Hey MFC!

I need a hand real quick! I recently got a new billy for my collection to store my new Genshin figures but I just had a thought.

Do you think it's okay to store figures near a window like this? I open the window to let air through at night but mostly keep it closed when it is sunny or hot. Do you think it will damage the figures?

I've found that most modern figures don't seem to fade or yellow the way printed media or old merchandise used to though.

Ohhhh that's a fantastic idea actually omfg !! Thank you :)

SmikuSmiku5 months ago#119727952But I do have privacy? My doubled blind is set up so I can see outside but no one can see inside and we have that all throughout our rental thanks to our lovely Landlord ♡
My window does not slide, it has a flyscreen and is a crank that opens it up. I unfortunately cannot get outside my window without climbing on the roof which I am not doing because I will die lmao
My blinds are UV resistant already and I normally have them down :)

I'm fortunate enough to have a doubled blind set up where the first blind (if the second blind is up) I can see outside but no one can see inside ♡

dankprin5 months ago#119727717they should be fine :-) my collection setup is similar (off to the side of a window), and whilst some older figures and (mainly) paper goods have gotten some sun damage, newer items have minimal signs of wear ;-] like others have said, UV film is also an option.
the damaged items tend to be on the left hand side of my bookshelf too (which gets more exposed to the sun), so with a smaller bookcase like your billy, there’s less to worry about~ i can’t open my window so i can’t personally account for that factor though. if you do keep the window open often, make sure you dust once in a while! my figures are pretty dusty (because i tend to break something every time i have a go), but if that’s a concern for you a cheap makeup brush works great.
i hope this helps! ^_^

That was really helpful! Thank you!
I'm pretty thankful that my shelf doesn't actually get any direct sunlight, just reflected light :)
And I normally dust once a week because of hayfever lol :)

RKasa5 months ago#119714726Fresh air is perfectly fine for figures and can even be beneficial. If PVC figures are left in an airless space for too long (like their packaging), they run the risk of becoming sticky from their plasticizer breaking down. As long as you keep your figures dusted (and away from direct sunlight, bugs, etc.), you should be fine.

Yeah they are out of direct sunlight as my top blind is a UV resistant dark blind and no light hits them unless I open it up and it's normally closed all the time even when my window is open haha!

Thanks so much ♡

UV damage on figures is definitely a thing so don't display them where the sun hits all day unless you put UV protecting film on your windows or the display case but even in that case I would still not do it.
