I just took a look, don't have time to put here an detailed translation, but from what I saw the say they had problem with Paypal, and because that it can't be used again. So they ask you to choose another way of payment that can be cash on delivery or pay using transfer from a bank.They ask you to contact them choosing the method to pay, and warn that if you don't contact them quickly, they will cancel your order. I think that's it... Not sure if it helps.

I was super happy to find out that they do have English communication. I placed my (first) order last week, but in the midst of checking out one item in my cart sold out. The payment never went through but the PayPal authorization request did. They released the money for me after I contacted them and I re-ordered!

I recall Nem (or someone else) posted something similar. That Surugaya (Main) replied in English though he got the impression that the Suru staffer wanted to reply in Japanese instead. Could you please post Suru's English reply? (curious)

Does Suruga-ya having items showing as in stock on their site, only to not actually have them, usually happen? I ordered an item from them through a middleman, it showed up as out of stock on the site right afterwards, but then a few days later the order was cancelled since they apparently didn't actually have it in stock.

At the very least, I'm going to be hesitant about buying limited stock items from them in the future.

Yes, this happened to me twice, about a month ago. Wanted to order a book and a keychain from them along with several other items via my proxy, both items went out of stock on the site not long after, and the next morning when I reviewed my orders on my proxy they were listed as OOS.

I have received an email regarding the order... not sure what it says gives me a link to an inquiry form?

One of the items in my order was OOS so I replied them with really simple English. When I got their reply I was surprised how good their English was:

"Thank you for your confirmation.
We are now preparing for shipping.
After we have shipped your parcel, we will send you the shipping mail notification
which includes the tracking number.

Please kindly wait for the shipping mail notification."

I suggest to copy/paste your emails to google translator :)

After placing an order you'll get an automatic email about your order. The items you ordered should be listed there with your shipping address etc. The next email I usually get from them says something about that they're sorry it's taking them so long to process the order and that they'll contact me as soon as possible (I've always got this one but not sure if it happen every time). This happens a couple days after placing an order. The next email is either shipping notification email or they let you know about OOS items. If something is OOS you need to reply to their mail and tell them if you still want the other items or if you wish to cancel the order.

There's an artbook I want that's marked as an adult product. Can I buy this book at all? I'd like to use PayPal because one of the 2 credit card orders I made didn't go through :/ (I could have mistyped somwthing but I can't be sure why..)

Try with Paypal. Maybe it will work.

I also got an email from Goody Japan that their commission for any order from TORANOANA is now a fixed 500 yen. Makes me wonder if they'll consider a forwarding service.

Try with Paypal. Maybe it will work.
Because of the R-18 artbook PayPal wasn't an option at all so I chose credit card. When typing the card info I noticed this text "※海外で発行されたクレジットカードはご利用いただけません。" Not sure what they mean by this but I've paid one of my orders succesfully via Visa. And for one order it didn't work and I'm not sure about the reason. I had to cancel that order as only bank transfer is available if PayPal or CC payment fails.

an update about my order: my payment via Visa went through just fine. I believe if you buy R-18 items can't pay via PayPal. Just be sure to type your card info right because you won't be able to re-send the payment if something goes wrong and you can't switch to PayPal either.

A couple of months back I tried ordering some R18 items and while my payment went through, they rejected my payment because they didn't accept international cards. I ended up having to change to COD :<
