Ikea "discontinues" items all the time, and then brings them back with small changes or slightly different color options, so it is possible that it will be back in some form.

However, I'm not that surprised if they are actually permanently discontinuing it. There was too much potential for user error with the Detolf. Overtightening the screws could cause stresses in the glass to build up, and eventually shatter. A lot of the newer glass display cases, such as the Blaliden, Baggebo, and Rudsta, use glass panels that are surrounded by metal frames. There is no way to overtighten any of the components in a way that will affect the glass.

FromJapan has a query that you can submit about prohibited items. Their warehouse staff will let you know whether this can be shipped internationally through them and if so via what mailing services.

It's good to vent after going through a very bad experience with a seller. I usually don't vent on this site but I'm not above not venting on this site. I do hope you find a solution that would be in your favor whatever that is... and legal.

Im so sorry, thats a crazy amount of money all gone :(( its a bit like the kozuguru/wizardry foundry situation where they didnt offer refunds and just left all buyers in the dust.

Looks like y'all were right. Ukiyo Kumo has filed for bankruptcy. Connexe toys is also filing for bankruptcy as well
