Definitely file a chargeback on Carousell asap, it sounds like they completely mishandled the case since the order was canceled on their end but they also refuse to give the money back. I had to file one before and you don't even need to stay in contact with the bank constantly, I just sent them the transaction info with screenshots and they handled everything on their end after a few days because the seller was unable to prove they sent the item and ghosted me for several months after the initial sale.

Well if you want the money back, this is the way. If she does not care enough, well, what can you do. But this is literally for this very reason. If what you say is true and they really did nothing to finish the deal, they can't win the dispute, and the dispute is basically handled internally, you don't interact with them, your card provider might ask for some screenshots of your communication but that's about it.

I understand that your mom is frustrated because if this, but this benefits the both of you. Try your best to convince her, if she's already said that you cant use that site anymore and you do eventually get banned from it, then she quite literally has nothing to loose. best of luck to you, and so sorry this happened :(

If you used PayPal and support aren't helping you, you have 180 days of buyer protection from date of purchase.
Edit: Opening a dispute with PayPal could likely result in a ban from Carousell. So use this option as a last resort.
i paid through Carousell Protection which was basically their way to make sure the item is sent to you as listed. Its ironic its called carousell protection because it didnt protect anything AT ALL

Thank you all again but ill probably only use it as a last resort because i dont want my mom to lash out at me again for making her go through tons of hoops for my money back. I understand her though i mean she did try to warn me but i went through with it because i had already bought an item from there beforehand.. either way ill wait a bit and see what my mom wants to do

If they don't do anything, contact your card issuer and ask for a chargeback. That function is specifically there in case sellers refuse communication, refuse disputes, fraud etc. The store either has to accept and give you the refund or provide crystal clear evidence that the sale was succesful and done correctly. In this case, they would not have any evidence of a finalized transaction (no item sent) and they would lose the dispute. Also if they don't communicate, they automatically lose the dispute. They will for sure ban you from their site, but you should get your money back.
Be aware that chargebacks are only possible to initiate up to 60-120 days from the purchase, depending on the issuer. So don't wait too long.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you! I agree with Adama, ask your mom to do a chargeback with your bank ASAP. Dont wait for them to get back to you, because tbh I think they’re waiting to get past the chargeback limit ToT

it has to be refunded, if you didn't get any kind of service and you cancelled it's impossible that a medium decent app doesn't give your money back! God I hope they do .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.(〒﹏〒)
Theyre actually pretty popular here so i really hope i do get my moneg back <\3 i guess ill just have to wait

For once I'd side with the mom, no way I'd use a service like this one ever again :/ fingers crossed for the refund and don't worry for the figure, you'll get one eventually. I just snagged my last leftover grail after hunting it down for 3 years, patience repays
thank you for the kind words ^^ im moving to a different shopping site as well, hopefully i get her in the future :D
