Can anyone recommend me a good proxy service that can order Suruga-ya items by bulk? The ones I usually use charge per item so it's going to cost a lot if I buy a lot of cheap stuff.

hi! suruga-ya.jp said they accepted paypal (here! www.suruga-ya.j...) however after finishing shopping and getting ready to check out with my tenso address, paypal is not an option.

does anyone know why? i have no adult products in my cart. someone on reddit said they change payment method by the items you're buying? but as i have no adult products, there should be no reason paypal is not accepted.

they do not accept overseas credit/debit cards so my only option is paypal lol

It's the address that is the issue. Suru seems to ban Tenso address (see comment/goto/12... and later posts). Try an address from another forwarder (BiJ address seems to work) or use a proxy.

just tried a BIJ address earlier and they still didnt allow me to use paypal. ill probably just cut my losses and proxy. i was mostly avoiding paying ¥100+ fees on items that are ¥50-¥80 that im picking up lol

www.suruga-ya.c...

Just thought I'd share about my experience using the english site of surugaya. I know it's been around for some years but this is my first time trying to order direct from suru english site rather than their japanese site.
I originally tried ordering using chrome, but I would get stuck on the address and payment page. When I tried to check out, the site would literally loop me between the address -> payment page ->address -> payment in an endless loop. Finally tried edge (the old internet explorer) and could finally check out that way.

I am in the US and was only given DHL and EMS as an option for buying a figure, 2 shikishis, and a small blind box. Shipping quote was provided directly on the site.

Tips for searching:
I used the jpn suru site to search and would copy and paste the main description of the item I wanted in japanese and search it on the english site. Sometimes the full description is too specific and won't work so I usually forgo things like 1/7 scale or the brand of the item etc, but keep the main parts like character and series name or the type of merch/merch line. The english search function is not as good as the japanese one and feels like it uses google translate for some of the names. I was always able to find the item searching the japanese name though.
Example:
I would search for Zhongli , but some items were under the name Jongli (incorrect translation) More items would show up if I used 钟离

No idea why the site doesn't seem to work with chrome. I hope suru en fixes that issue one day. I did make sure to turn off my adblock and such too.

Hi everyone!

What is your overall experience with Surugaya.jp when it comes to figures?

I found one of my grails on Suru and it bugs me that there is no single word about the condition of the item. It only says used - secondhand.

Also what does it mean when there is a New Arrival tag behind the price?
Is it a complete new listing with the actual picture for the figure or just a restock of the item with a picture of an old listing?

I checked google and read good things about Surugaya.jp but also some horrible stuff (Damaged items, wrong items, missing pieces, Bootlegs etc.)

The figure is listed for 17000 yen and I'm sure shipping + customs will kick my butt...but the figure is quite rare and hard to find...I really don't know what to do tbh =/

Thank you in advance!

It means the product was bought from one of customers. Suruga-ya has rules for what can be sold to them, and damaged goods aren't the option. There are some slip-ups during the pandemic though. If any damage exists, it will be included in the title and description of the product.

The new item appeared in the shop. It's most likely a restock. If you want to get notified about restock, click the green button with "入荷待ちリスト" text on it. The notifications are sent via e-mail.

Personally I like Suruga-ya for low prices and great varieties of items. Bought some damaged items like a penlight with missing film ITEM #720221 that made 50% discount. Or sealed ITEM #1036500 with damaged cardboard. Some books even came with obis (sometimes obis are ripped off, but the books are in good condition).

As of figures, I bought ~10 prize figures with them and most of them were sealed. Only one of them was opened, but it's as good as new.

As of expensive scales, I bought ITEM #604482 for 17,6k and came sealed with minimal damage in corners.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and the link, this helps alot :)

Maybe I shouldn't worry too much and just go for it.

I'm always too hesitant when it comes to new shops and I can't help it.

Thanks again! :)
